Brooklyn Autism Center

The Brooklyn Autism Center is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) school serving children with diagnoses of autism, PDD, or related disorders. Their program was founded by parents, educators and community activists determined to provide high quality, effective educational services for children that need 1:1 support.

BAC’s philosophy is grounded in data-based scientific research, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), which is the educational standard and best practice for children on the Autism Spectrum. Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is applied across the day using specific techniques to increase skill acquisition and decrease maladaptive behaviors. Each learner’s education and treatment program is completely individualized. Our students have a curriculum based on their specific needs – whether within the realm of academics, behavior management, communication, self-care, vocational skills or social skills.

BAC utilizes iPads, iMacs, a SMART Board and gaming devices for education, communication and recreation. Each customized tool is used to enrich and expand the child’s learning experience.

BAC also offers many extra-curricular programs including: horseback riding, yoga, music, library, swimming and play-time at the park. Additionally, they offer an after-school peer socialization program once weekly.

The Brooklyn Autism Center is located in Downtown Brooklyn at 57 Willoughby Street, within close proximity to Manhattan, Queens and excellent local and regional mass transit access.
